Currency is one of the most important things in the world. Everything has a currency! Sometimes it is money or it’s gold or it’s a service or a firstborn. Basically, everything can be a currency if someone wants it! If I was a currency that isn’t monetary, I would probably be a cool art drawing in China. Maybe it would be a naked drawing because it’s worth more, or a drawing of a queen because they are always important.
Monetary currency is important for people that live in a place where money is important, which is nearly everywhere, except maybe Africa or Asia or South America because they also use rice as an important currency. There are famous currencies, like maybe the Dollar or the Euro, and everyone wants them because they are important. But if you are a Dollar or a Euro, you are like a pop star or an actor - everyone wants to be it, but not very many people can. Also, a lot of people hate you. If you’re a dollar, you could be a dollar in Hawaii or California, but you could also be a dollar in Tennessee.
Maybe if you are a Pound it’s cool because it’s a queen currency and has a lot of value, but it is also confusing because people might think you are a weight, and if you want to be an important Pound you would probably want to be a high one, and a high Pound is cool but a high pound is usually something bad.
When I was a kid my favorite currency was the Lira from Italy because I went there a lot with my family and they had a cool coin with a hole in it that I could use on the arcade machines or on a necklace. I wanted to be the hole coin currency, but it’s a bad currency to be because it’s a fake currency and it’s not worth a lot and only works in arcade machines and their value is important only to kids. Most of them are still in my old room at home and probably not very happy.
If I were a monetary currency, I’m not sure what I would be because I don’t know a lot of currencies. I think I want to be the Chilean Peso, because they have men with mustaches and are in Chile which is probably a cool place to go. I also want to be the Japanese Yen because it’s important and has men with mustaches and birds on them, and they have a coin with a hole. If you are a Yen you can be used to buy Karaoke, schoolgirls or delicious ramen. I am the Yen!
